A school has won an award for its after-school cooking programme.

English Martyrs Primary School recently entered the Children’s Food Trust East Midlands Let’s Get Cooking Golden Spoon Awards which were awarded at the Let’s Get Cooking Conference at Hothorpe Hall.

The school won a prize in the category of Unexpected Outcomes

The after-school cooking club is run by teaching assistant Alison McKay who was presented with a certificate and trophy.

The club, which is oversubscribed, has held fundraisers such as Pizza for Pakistan and Cakes for CAFOD and whole school cooking events where the children have cooked and baked goods to be sold in aid of various charities.
