WILDLIFE is set to benefit from a project to replace a sluice gate.

The Environment Agency is carrying out work on the sluice and weir in the River Welland near the mill in Duddington.

The work will last for six months and a new weir and fish pass will be built. The new structures have been designed carefully to complement the area.

Environment Agency spokesman Nicola Oldfield said the new gate would help increase fish population along the whole river.
