A Market Deeping company has completed work on Britain’s biggest solar farm.
The 33MWp development at Wymeswold Airfield near Melton Mowbray has now been connected to the National Grid.
The £35m farm comprises 130,000 solar panels which were installed on land between the old runways at the 150-acre site in less than eight weeks.
It is expected to produce emission-free energy for the next 25 years.
Managing director of Lark Energy Jonathan Selwyn said: “As the largest solar farm in the UK, the project has not been without its challenges, both technical and weather related.
“It is a testament to the teamwork of the various parties involved in its development and delivery that it was completed and connected on time.
“We are committed to developing a large portfolio of solar projects in the UK over the coming years and see a bright future for this growing industry”.
The project was funded and is owned by investment firm Hazel Capital and was completed with the help of landowner Prestwold Estate.
Last month Lark Energy completed work on a 5.6MWp solar farm at Limes Farm in Spalding Road, Bourne. The farm covers 30 acres and comprises 20,000 solar panels.
