Have your say

Explosions that have been heard around Stamford this afternoon (Tuesday) have been coming from the North Luffenham airfield.

RAF Wittering’s 5131 Bomb Disposal Squadron is completing a three week airfield clearance course at the site this week.

Officers in the squadron have been dealing with simulated detonating bombs as part of the course.

The 5131 Bomb Disposal Squadronn is the RAF’s only Explosive Ordnance Disposal asset and is the only defence asset specialising in air dropped weapons. The squadron provides a key contribution to defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal capability within the UK and to deployed operations worldwide.

The explosions are set to continue until Thursday.
