Birdfair attracts celebrity guests Carrie Symonds, Chris Packham and Simon King




Birdfair returns to Rutland next week for three days of environmental entertainment and education.

The event will focus on issues like wildlife decline and climate change.

Environmental campaigner Carrie Symonds, partner of Boris Johnson, will introduce a Question Time featuring personalities including Chris Packham and Deborah Meaden.

Simon King will give a talk on living lighter and changing the world one step at a time.

During the weekend visitors can also get advice on careers in conservation, take part in quizzes, join a wildlife cruise, watch a production of The Lion King and browse exhibitor stalls.

There will also be children’s activities like bug hunting and pond dipping.

Event founder Tim Appleton said: “There’s really something for everyone this year. Whether you’re a Birdfair regular or a first time visitor, this is going to be a fantastic three days.”

Money raised will go towards the Conserving Cambodia’s Big Five project. It aims to protect the giant ibis, white-shouldered ibis, and three species of vulture.

Birdfair takes place at Egleton from Friday, August 16 until Sunday, August 18.
