Stars of EastEnders, Emmerdale and The Office to appear at Tolethorpe Youth Drama's Online Summer Arts Festival
Film, television and theatre stars will be taking part in a drama group’s online festival next week.
Tolethorpe Youth Drama’s Online Summer Arts Festival will include a host of workshops and masterclasses led by showbiz professionals.
They will cover everything from musical theatre, comedy and dance to costume design, circus skills and voiceover work.
Names include Luke Pasqualino, star of Skins and The Musketeers, Joel Beckett, of EastEnders and The Office fame, stand-up comedian Janice Connolly, Steven Pinder, star of Brookside and Emmerdale, Gary Avis MBE, of the Royal Ballet Company, and West End leading lady Nicky Adams.
The festival runs from Wednesday, August 5, until Friday, August 14, and is primarily aimed at youngsters although anyone can get involved.
Mary Benzies, principal of Tolethorpe Youth Drama, said: “It's really exciting and we have an incredible line-up of guests.
"The festival last year at Tolethorpe was a huge success and there was huge interest in doing it again this year but unfortunately we had to weigh everything up and look at the safety issues. However, there seemed to be a real interest in doing it online and it means we can reach further afield.
"We hope people enjoy it. It's mainly for children and young people but anyone can tune in; they don't have to take part."
The global pandemic and lockdown hasn’t stopped budding actors in the group from honing their skills either.
Mary added: “We've kept things ticking over and have spent the last four months engaging with all our students every week through online workshops and have kept them creating and busy."
