Villagers will be able to use their hall without fear of leaks after a donation from a utilities firm.

National Grid handed over £4,000 to Essendine village hall to pay for repairs to the building’s roof. The company is building a £30m electricity substation nearby.

Village hall committee chairman Adele Stainsby said: “This fantastic contribution from National Grid will ensure that the hall can be used more.”
