After starting her business with little more than £5 in her pocket, a drive to be successful and determination, Louise Clinch is now providing high quality wedding and event designs at more than 120 weddings a year.

Stamford-based Lily King Weddings of Distinction was set up in 2010, named after Louise’s great grandmother. Louise knew what the market in wedding design was lacking and wanted to meet that demand.

She said: “When I first set up, there was an awful lot of mediocrity in the wedding market, and I could see that clients wanted a much higher standard than what was currently available.

“I wanted to meet that demand and for my designs to really stand out. Each and every event receives our personal design service as standard and we treat every client the same no matter how large or small.”

Louise’s major challenge was to find financial support.

First Enterprise Business Agency supported Louise with a £15,000 loan.

Serving the entire East Midlands, First Enterprise is a not-for-profit organisation providing loans and free business advice to start-ups and existing businesses.

Since starting out, Louise now has three full-time employees, including herself, and 16 part-time employees.

Tomorrow, she will celebrate five years of business with a networking party and wedding show at her recently refurbished premises in Ryhall Road with businesses, members of the public and guests including the Mayor.

Lily King will be open to wedding businesses for the networking event from 10am until midday and members of the public will then be invited along to see the extended showroom and meet Louise from midday.
