Foodies set to flock to thirteenth Melton Mowbray Food Festival
Advance tickets are already being snapped up for this year’s Melton Mowbray Food Festival - one of the UK’s largest regional food festivals.
Thousands of visitors will be flocking to the UK’s Rural Capital of Food on the weekend of October 1-2 as the festival returns for its 13th consecutive year.
Visitor will be able to taste and buy some of the UK’s best locally-produced food and drink.
In addition to the traditional, local specialities of Melton Mowbray Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese. visitors will also be able to taste and buy food and delicacies from across the UK and around the world, with UK and international street food available in a special catering area.
There will be a professional food theatre where visitors can enjoy a full programme of talks and demonstrations by experts and children have their own dedicated family fun area where they can learn about food. Entertainment will be provided by the New St George Morris dancers and the Melstrum Ukulele Band.
The festival will take place at Melton’s covered cattle market on Scalford Road, with free adjacent parking, on Saturday, October 1, 10am to 5pm, and Sunday, October 2, 10am to 4pm.
The festival is organised by the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership with main sponsorship from Samworth Brothers and the support of the Melton Mowbray Market.
Dr Matthew O’Callaghan OBE, of the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership, said: “Last year’s festival was a roaring success with many favourite producers returning as well as new exhibitors offering something new to the several thousands of people who visited and enjoyed the event.
“We’re confident this year will prove to be bigger and better, and that people will take the opportunity to sample and buy some of the best-tasting local produce in the country.”
Tickets are £6 (£5 in advance), with children under 16 entering free.
