AN ATHLETE is taking part in a stationary cycle at Stamford market today to raise funds to go to the World Triathlon Championships in New Zealand.

Sara Mickleburgh, 24, from Thurlby, will be cycling non-stop for seven and a half hours as she bids to raise enough money to compete at the championships in Auckland in October.

The former Bourne Grammar School pupil took up the sport two and a half years ago and is a member of Stamford Tri Club.

She needs to raise £1,500 to compete in the female 20 to 24 age group for Great Britain at the event.

Sara will be running a stall near Costa Coffee in High Street from 9am.

She will also be cycling there on August 3 and 4, and August 10 and 11.
