Former Stamford cadet takes command of Peterborough-based Army regiment

Lieutenant Colonel Rob Futter is proud to be home after being appointed the new Commanding Officer of 158 Regiment, the Royal Logistic Corps.

Rob grew up in Stamford and spent four years with the Stamford School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) which he plans to support through the Regiment’s Youth Engagement Programme.

“Command is a privilege and I’m especially proud to have the opportunity to command the nearest regiment to my childhood town of Stamford," Rob said.

"It’s absolutely the pinnacle of my career so far.”

Rob completed tours of Afghanistan and the Middle East during a 20-year career in the Regular Army, and has high expectations of the Peterborough-based 158 Regiment, a Reserve Transport Regiment with squadrons throughout the East Midlands and East Anglia.

He added: “The Regiment is operationally focussed and our soldiers are agile and ready, regardless of the task, whether that's mobile testing teams for the Covid response, or deploying soldiers on United Nations Peacekeeping missions."
