A young chef has missed out on a place in the final of BBC Two’s MasterChef: The Professionals.

Aaron Ashmore went head-to-head with fellow chef Oli Boon in the semi-final episode, which was screened last night (Tuesday).

Aaron, 21, who is originally from Market Deeping, impressed while cooking for Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley in the first round.

But his two dishes of scallops with black olives and strawberries followed by toast parfait failed to impress judges Gregg Wallace and Michel Roux Jr.

Aaron works as a chef at Angela Hartnett’s restaurant Murano in London. He gained his qualifications at New College Stamford and learned his trade at The George Hotel in Stamford, before moving to London to take a job at Gordon Ramsey’s York and Albany restaurant.
