A community bus service will reward passengers this Christmas by giving the gift of free journeys to festive markets in Lincolnshire.

Lincolnshire County Council’s CallConnect bus service will repeat its Love Sundays offer once again this year.

For the three Sundays leading up to Christmas anyone can travel on the free CallConnect bus service to one of the many festive markets throughout the county and further afield.

This weekend, Sunday November 29, passangers will be able to visit markets in Stamford and Market Deeping, as well as Peterborough, Louth, Boston, Skegness, Spalding, Newark and Sleaford.

The following Sunday, December 6, a service to Horncastle Christmas Market will be available. And on Sunday, December 13, people will be able to travel to Louth Winter Market and Newark Christmas Market for free.

CallConnect Manager Paul Sanders said: “December is one of the busiest months of the year for people, and we wanted to help our customers get into the Christmas spirit by helping them shop at their local seasonal fairs and markets, support the local economy and travel free of charge as well.

“We also want to encourage customers who use conventional timetabled bus services Monday to Saturday to use the special free CallConnect on these Christmas Sundays.”

The Love Sundays scheme offers a much-needed boost to communities where a fixed-route CallConnect bus service is available from Monday to Saturday, but where residents have no regular Sunday bus service.
