Free parking in Oakham and Uppingham for late night shopping events

Shoppers and visitors can enjoy free parking in Oakham and Uppingham as part of late night shopping events taking place in the run-up to Christmas.

Annual late night Christmas shopping events are due to be held in Uppingham tomorrow (Thursday, December 6) and then in Oakham on Monday (December 10).

As in previous years, Rutland County Council is offering free parking in all council car parks to coincide with these events, in order to support shoppers and local businesses.

Councillor Lucy Stephenson, portfolio holder for highways and transport at Rutland County Council, said: “The festive season in Rutland is always really special and I know how much people are looking forward to the annual Christmas markets in both Oakham and Uppingham. To add to the Christmas cheer, we’re offering free parking in our car parks when these fantastic events take place and hope everyone will enjoy the festivities.”

Free parking for late night shopping will be available in Oakham and Uppingham on the following dates and times. All on-street parking restrictions will remain in place as normal:

  • Thursday, December 6: Uppingham only from 3pm for late night shopping
  • Monday, December 10: Oakham only from 3pm for late night shopping

In addition to local late night Christmas shopping, there will also be a one-off daytime Rutland to Peterborough Christmas Shopper Bus on Wednesday, December 13, serving Oakham, Uppingham and the surrounding villages.
