AA research reveals that more than five million Britons, one in every six license holders, say they have taken a break from driving long enough to lose skills and confidence.

Coun Lucy Stephenson, portfolio holder for highways and transport, said: “Rutland has a lot of winding country lanes, A and B roads and a busy section of dual carriageway.

"Our driving refresher courses can help you to drive more safely in a range of different environments and conditions, as well as helping you to increase awareness, regain driving skills and build confidence.

“We’ve had outstanding feedback from previous participants, with everyone who took part last year saying that they found the courses useful.

"The most popular aspects were updates on road signs and markings and discussions with experts about driving safely on roundabouts.

“Whether you’ve just passed your test or have lots of experience behind the wheel, if you’re a driver in Rutland I’d encourage you to get in touch to find out more.”

The 2019 refresher driving courses will take place on the following dates:

-March 1, 10.00am to 12.30pm

-March 15, 10.00am to 12.30pm

-March 18, 1.30pm to 4.00pm

-March 22 1.30pm to 4.00pm
