A FRENCH woman wants to bring a corner of Paris to Stamford by starting language lessons at one of the town’s cafes.
Laetitia Vincent de la Croix, 39, of Stocken Hall Road, Stocken, will give French lessons at Beans Coffee Stop in Silver Lane, Stamford, on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 11.30am.
Her pupils will be able to buy a coffee and a croissant, sit on a table outside (weather permitting) and converse with Laetitia in French.
She said: “I moved to England five years ago to train to be a teacher and I love living here. But I used to live in Paris and I also love it there. It would be great to combine the two.”
Laetitia has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and is qualified to teach French and Spanish.
She has been teaching privately for the last few years and is a member of the French Club in Stamford, but would like to open up her skills to the community. She said: “The French Club is only open to French people, but I get approached by people all the time who would like to practice their French before they go on holiday and do not have the opportunity to.
“This will be a new concept for Stamford and I’m really excited about it.”
Laetitia is happy to welcome as many people as possible per week, and is hoping that the more people who attend the better the French conversation will be. She said: “It will help if people already know a bit of French and just want to practice it.”
The lessons will cost £10 each per person and include the price of a coffee and a pastry.
Laetitia said: “I love cafe culture, and Beans has a lovely terrace.
“It will have a French feel with a coffee and a croissant, but not in Paris, in Stamford.”
