Friendship Lunch Club launched by Evergeen to combat loneliness in Stamford

A new lunch club has been launched to combat loneliness and isolation in Stamford.

Around 18 people attended the first Friendship Lunch Club, a new partnership between the Evergreen Care Trust, Christ Church community transport and Morrisons at its launch in the store’s cafe on Tuesday last week.

Louise Marsh, chief executive of Evergreen Care Trust, said: “This is one of the ways in which we can get people together and there’s nothing better than sitting round a table, chatting and socialising with each other.

“This has been launched in response to us closing three clubs in March 2017 and we have been really pleased with the response we have got to the new lunch club.

“We’ve got an excellent partnership with Morrisons and Christ Church Community Transport.

“I think it will work very well.

“People can come along, have something to eat and have fun.

“It’s about combating loneliness and social isolation, something that has become more and more prevent.”

The club starts at 12pm for a 12.30pm lunch every Tuesday.

Contact Su Fletcher, the volunteer services team leader on 01780 765 900 if you want to go along, book transport or to volunteer.
