Latest Covid-19 figures show rise in cases in South Kesteven and Rutland




South Kesteven’s seven-day covid infection rate stayed above the national average as further deaths were recorded this week.

In the past week, 523 people tested positive for coronavirus in the district, an increase of 2.5 per cent, according to figures released by Public Health England on Wednesday.

The district’s seven-day infection rate stood at 366 for every 100,000 people, up from 318 the previous Wednesday, and above the national average of 299.

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test also increased by two last week to 276.

Rutland’s seven-day infection rate also increased over the last week from 219 for every 100,000 people to 296.

A total of 131 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the county in the past week, but deaths within 28 days of a positive test remained at 66.
