Open gardens event to be held today in Empingham and Ketton

Garden lovers are in for a treat on Sunday, June 23, when three very different gardens in Empingham open from 2pm to 5.30pm for the National Gardens Scheme.

Prebendal House stands in four acres with extensive herbaceous borders, topiary and a sunken water garden.

Lavender Cottage is a tiny garden with a series of rooms linked by rose and honeysuckle arches which are richly underplanted.

Honeylea is an ‘enabled’ garden as the owner is disabled and has designed it for maximum accessibility and relaxation.

Refreshments will be available at Prebendal House. Garden admission is £6 for adults and free for children.

Ketton will also hold an open gardens event on Sunday from 1pm to 5pm in aid of Mind. Participating properties include sculpture and painter, Josette Caroll’s garden in Church Road.

Josette’s Mill Lane Gallery will also be open to visitors from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23 as part of Rutland Open Studios.
