Gas leak on Uffington Road in Stamford




A gas leak has been repaired in Stamford.

People reported the strong smell of gas in the Uffington Road area yesterday morning (August 28) and roadworks with temporary traffic lights were carried out near to the junction with Newstead Lane.

Sara Wilcox, a spokesman for Cadent Gas, said: "We were called out on Tuesday to reports of a possible gas leak near to Newstead Lane.

"Our crew arrived and found a gas leak and the repair was competed at 10 o'clock.

"Now we're just awaiting the road to be filled in."
