GCSE: Best ever results at Casterton!

Casterton College Rutland is celebrating its best ever GCSE results this year, for the third year running.

Having been in the top 5 per cent in the East Midlands last year, results got even better in a year when harder, new style GCSEs have been introduced.

Principal, Carl Smith paid tribute to staff and students saying he was “absolutely delighted with another extraordinary performance for the college which he attributed to the ‘dedication and hard work of staff and students over a number of years” he went on to say, ‘I am proud to work with

these people and I am very proud of our wonderful students’ adding that ‘Casterton is fast becoming one of the best schools in the country’.

Emma Hearn, former head girl, achieved an incredible nine top grades (grade 9 or equivalent) and former head boy, Tom Carnell achieved a very impressive 4 top grades.

Fabulous results were also achieved by Jasmine Hammond, Emily Henshaw, Poppy Webb, Margaux Sampson, Daisy-May Ticehurst, Simon Edmunds and Lucy Deane amongst others.

Carl Smith also wanted to congratulate all those students who exceeded all expectations including Emily Henshaw, Jenna Dovey, India Makin, Jacques Cross, Lucy Deane, Hannah Eastwood, Bryony Cutforth, Reece Higginson, , Josh Jordan, Samuel Burke, Maverick Davies, Zac Smith, Ellie Maguire-Watts, Hannah Kirk, Cranston Chipperfield, Cai Coe and Amy Neve who were ‘amongst the many students who exceeded their targets by some considerable distance’.
