General Election 2019: South Holland and the Deepings - Liberal Democrats Davina Kirby
If elected, I will always make the needs of the constituency my first priority.
I will live here, focus on local businesses, farms, industries, and shop locally.
I will act on local views and be contactable. As a single parent, running my own solicitors practice, I understand the difficulties posed by all the conflicting demands placed upon families these days, ‘just to get by’ each year.
Working together in a positive harmonious way, I will ensure that all villages, towns and communities in South Holland and the Deepings will have the financial and technological support to be forward looking and better places to live for everyone.
I believe that action not eloquent words are needed.
The Lib Dems have plans to replace council tax and to regenerate our high streets.
I will campaign to seek the improvement of local road transport, the improvement in local bus and train services.
I will work to combat climate change and the consequences of drought and flooding upon the constituency.
I will encourage the NFU and other groups to engage in a national debate on water management and sustainable agriculture.
I would encourage the immediate pronouncement of a climate emergency and implementation of local sustainable measures.
Social cohesion in the constituency will be enhanced by Lib Dem policies funding; regional, community, health, education, social care, social justice and police funding. We will aim by 2030 to be using 80% of renewable energy. We will provide 35 hours free child care from the age of 9 months as we believe in investing in our children’s education and well-being from early years and supporting families when they need support most.
Brexit is ‘not oven ready’. This is merely another Boris myth. There is no chance that Brexit could be over - if we wanted it - by this Christmas or next. A vote for the Conservatives or for Labour is against the best interests of the United Kingdom, your family and your children’s children. Both the Labour and the Conservative party’s election pledges will cause more economic uncertainty for this constituency, and your finances.
