Good news as Stamford square will not be closed for major gas works

A BUSY square will not be closed by major gas works, it has been revealed.

Red Lion Square in Stamford was due to shut to traffic for two weeks later this month as maintenance work on High Street gas mains nears completion.

But a rethink from National Grid, Central Networks and Lincolnshire County Council means one lane of St John’s Street will stay open, reducing the impact on traffic and shoppers.

Red Lion Square and St John’s Street will only be fully closed for two hours on April 13, with traffic diverted through All Saints Street and Sheepmarket.

Broad Street will remain closed for two days following the Mid-Lent Fair for resurfacing work.
