Green-fingered businesses are nominated for Environmental Champion at the Mercury Business Awards
As the countdown to the Mercury Business Awards gets smaller, over the next few weeks we’ll be featuring the shortlisted businesses.
For Environmental Champion (sponsored by Stamford College), i10 Limited in Langtoft, the Blonde Beet in Stamford and Rutland Refill in Oakham will go head-to-head to take home the prize during the awards ceremony at Greetham Valley on Friday, September 16.
Mark Hastings, director and founder of i10 Limited, said: We are feeling a mix of being really proud, delighted and humbled.”
The business, which nominated itself, helps firms in the public sector to reach their maximum potential on digital platforms.
The Blonde Beet in St Paul’s Street, Stamford, is a cafe and restaurant which offers sustainable and plant-based food and drinks to customers.
Jo Kemp, owner and chef, nominated the café and bistro herself and is feeling proud to be shortlisted.
“It is really nice to be recognised by being shortlisted,” she said.
“Even if we do not win the award, I’m still proud the business was noticed.”
Rutland Refill, which provides zero-waste products, had been nominated by a happy customer.
Jenni Penfold, founder of the business, said: “We are really excited that somebody thought we were worth nominating.”
The business also has a café in Oakham which is run by volunteers with special needs to offer them with support.
