More news, no ads

Six community groups will receive a charity’s final donation.

Since the charity was set up in 1989, trustees at the Karen Ball Fund have dedicated their lives to helping others, spending more than £113,000 providing life-saving services across Rutland.

After funding 72 defibrillators across the county, the charity will provide its final donation of six portable defibrillators, worth £1,000 each, before closing the fund completely.

Any club, group or organisation in Rutland can apply to the Karen Ball Fund to receive one of the brand new devices.

The mobile defibrillator can be taken to different locations by the groups, rather than having to remain at its station.

The closing date for entries is Monday (May 30) with the live draw taking place the following day on Rob Persani’s breakfast show on Rutland and Stamford Sound.

The successful applicants will be chosen at random, with more than 14 requests having been made so far.
