The closing date for applying for your child's primary school place is fast approaching

Parents of children starting primary school next year are being reminded to apply for a place at their preferred schools by the national closing date of January 15, 2020.

If your child was born between September 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016 they will be eligible to start primary school in September 2020.

For the Lincolnshire County Council area, visit www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions/ for more information.

For the Rutland County Council area, you can submit your child’s application by going to www.rutland.gov.uk/admissions, where you will find full details and guidance to support you through the application process.

Coun David Wilby (Con), cabinet member for education at Rutland County Council, said: “Now is the time to submit an application if your child is starting primary school for the first time next year.

“It’s important to submit your application before the national closing date and we would again encourage parents to make full use of the three preference options they are given when applying for a school place. You should also take time to read the admissions policies of your child’s preferred schools before submitting your application.”

Tutland County Council has published a short video guide on its website explaining the importance of using all three preference options on the application form. This can be viewed online at: www.rutland.gov.uk/admissions.
