Nurses at Peterborough City Hospital were given a heavy workload as part of a training session.
The Friends of Peterborough Hospitals has paid for a specialist suit which is used to train staff about the the needs of obese patients. Wearing the suit enables staff to experience situations from the patient’s perspective and help them to adapt different techniques to suit the needs of each patient.
It should also help reduce injuries to both patients and staff.
This branch of care is known as bariatric.
In the sessions, staff will experience and use other bariatric equipment such as hoists and beds.
