THE importance of testing blood pressure was outlined at a special health event.

The Rotary Club of Bourne St Peter parked a camper van in the car park of the Burghley Centre in Bourne on Saturday.

About 50 people had their blood pressure tested by qualified nurse Marianne Wetherall as part of the Know Your Blood Pressure campaign, run in partnership with the Stroke Association and the ambulance service.

Rotarian Janice Hill is chairman of the club’s community and vocational committee. She said: “People were happy and really appreciated us being there.

“We are thinking about expanding it next year. I am a great believer in it and am very committed to the cause. It is very important that you get checked, whatever your age is.”
