Brothers Nathan and Grant Worthington are hoping to help people live healthier, happier lives with the opening of a new food bar in Stamford.

After 18 months of planning, Aloha Foods Co., at 12 St John’s Street, was due to welcome its first customers on Friday.

Nathan, 26, and Grant, 29, both of Norfolk Square, Stamford, will serve nutritionally-balanced meals, guilt-free snacks and fresh fruit smoothies.

The pair both grew up in Stamford and said they felt frustrated by a lack of options when looking for a quick but healthy meal to eat on the go.

Nathan has spent the past 10 years working as a chef at The Finch’s Arms pub and restaurant, in Hambleton, Rutland, while Grant graduated a year ago with a degree in exercise, health and nutrition.

Both have a love of travelling – having spent time in the Americas, and the name of their business was inspired by a trip to Hawaii.

Nathan said: “We’re always rushing around and looking to pick up something quick but healthy and found that difficult.

“Our goal is to bring affordable good food to the town. With advice changing all the time, it can be very confusing knowing what you should and shouldn’t eat as part of a healthy-balanced diet.”

Grant added: “We want people from all walks of life to come and enjoy our food.

“There’s something for everyone – we can cater for every need and if people are diabetic, coeliacs, lactose intolerant, vegan, or vegetarian we can work with that.

“We can give people advice about what will suit them.”

The concept will see customers chose a protein – such as chicken, steak, fish, or tofu; a base of rice, quinoa, sweet potato or cous cous; and a side of steamed veg, salad, slaw or halloumi. Prices start at £6.95.

Aloha Foods Co. will be open from 10.30am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and 10.30am to 9pm Friday and Saturday.

Customers will be able to pre-order via phone or text message and is working on plans for a delivery service to homes, businesses and also gyms across the town.

There is also seating available inside the premises.
