Hearing dogs meet generous pupils from Stamford High School and chairman of The Oddfellows
Pupils at Stamford High School were thrilled to meet two hearing dogs who visited with their recipients to collect a cheque for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
The girls at the school held a Mother’s Day raffle, with a range of donated prizes suitable for gifts, and donated the proceeds to the charity.
On Friday last week, Denise Taylor, a charity representative, along with Michael Wilson and his dog Ronnie, and John Milnes, and his puppy Ringo, visited the school to collect a cheque and tell the girls more about the good work they do.
Meanwhile, the new chairman of the Nene and Welland District Lodge of The Oddfellows, Chris Briance, has selected Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as his charity of the year.
He is hoping to raise about £1,000 for the charity during the year, and began his fundraising with a coffee morning held at The Oddfellows Hall, Church Street, Market Deeping. The group hold regular coffee mornings at the hall, which includes a sale of bric a brac, books and a raffle.
As a surprise, hearing dog Poppy attended the April coffee morning, accompanied by her recipient John Mallindine, to thank Chris for choosing to support the charity.
