Summer is set to finally arrive next week - with eastern counties predicted to enjoy the hottest temperatures of the year so far.

After a disappointing summer so far - which has been dominated by rain and cloud - the Met Office forecasts that there will be an improvement in the weather this weekend and next week with large spells of dry, bright, warm weather.

On Saturday and Sunday temperatures and humidity will start to build and the mercury should reach a very warm and pleasant 23C and 24C respectively.

Monday will also reach 24C and on Tuesday it will be even hotter with temperatures reaching a balmy 25C in many parts according to the Met Office.

Wednesday will also remain dry and bright, reaching 24C.
