A teenage cricketer hopes to attract sponsorship for the trip of a lifetime to the World Indoor Cricket Series in New Zealand.

Isabelle Hudson has gone from strength to strength since she first picked up a cricket bat at the age of 10.

She started playing with her village team, Market Overton Cricket Club, before attending a training camp at Leicestershire Cricket Club.

She now plays for the county U15s team and has earned a place with the England U17s Indoor Team at the global event in September.

Isabelle, 15, said: “I’m really excited to have the chance to represent my country. I love cricket and the fact that sometimes it’s fast-paced and sometimes it’s slower.”

The two-week trip will cost £3,500 and there is no funding available so the family hopes to find a business sponsor to help Isabelle on her way.

While there she will play competitively every other day and train in between, receiving top quality coaching which she hopes will help fulfil her long-term dream of playing for the England Outdoor Team.

The Stamford High School pupil currently trains most days with either the village, county or school teams.

Proud dad Mark, who is chairman of Market Overton Cricket Club, said: “She eats and sleeps cricket.

"She just loves it and is a much better player than I was at that age.

"This is a great opportunity.”
