Discovering you descend from a long line of French aristocrats, or finding you have 15 cousins sounds like the stuff of BBC One’s ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’

But for one couple from Belmesthorpe, lockdowns and a local library proved a cracking combination for research into their family history.

Adrian Gombault, a retired teacher, not only created detailed family trees for all eight of their grandparents and their predecessors, he has also written a narrative to accompany each one.
