Help sustain Bourne Wood

A nature group is looking for new volunteers ahead of its first spring event.

The Friends of Bourne Wood is still promoting its drive to recruit an extra 500 helpers. The group needs more volunteers to enable the future of the woodland and to ensure residents continue to enjoy one of the town’s most precious resources.

As the nights grow lighter the group is planning its next activity, which will be scavenging day on Saturday, March 14. And members have appealed for anyone who wants to help maintain Bourne Wood to come forward as a volunteer.

Secretary Sarah Roberts said: “Volunteers are vital to the success of our events programme and we were lucky enough to receive calls from many of you last year, but we need more. Get in touch today and be part of the fun. Offers of support from local businesses are always welcome too.”

People can collect firewood on the scavenging day for £5 per wheelbarrow. To find out more about volunteering or book a scavenging space, e-mail roberts.sarahm@gmail.com or call 07760 468052.
