Highways to look at parking problems in Bourne

THE county council has vowed to look at parking issues in Bourne in September.

Lincolnshire County Council said it will start consultation with residents, who have complained about teenagers from Bourne Grammar School parking in Austerby and Austerby Close.

Divisional head of highways Brian Thompson said it was important to consult properly on potential solutions.

He said: “The timetable of consulting for the beginning of the new school year in September was devised with Bourne Town Council as it will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to respond.”

John Glen, 45, of Austerby Close, said: “This needs to be sorted out as a matter of urgency but it appears that those who can affect this process are in no hurry.”

Bourne Grammar School headteacher Jonathan Maddox said he was aware of the problems.

Tesco also tried to help by giving permits to some pupils for its car park in Cherry Holt Road.
