A historian from Langtoft will appear in a new Channel 4 series.

Historian Chris Carr and her husband Nick travelled to Coventry earlier this month for the filming of the new series, The Great British Dig, exploring lost history buried under the public's back gardens.

Chris spent the morning filming with Hugh Dennis where they discussed her speciality, Medieval and Renaissance history.

Chris said: "I was talking about medieval food with the presenter Hugh Dennis and we did some medieval cooking.

"We made a traditional medieval meal; the cast and crew thoroughly enjoyed the food.

"It was a huge amount of fun, it was the best fun I have had in a very long time."

The show has also recruited local people to help them get digging and the search for history.

Hugh said: “The Great British Dig is a fantastic format which combines finding out about the history of where you live and the surprising things that lie under your own back garden.

"It’s kind of a community archaeology project."

The Great British Dig episode including Chris is expected to be released on More4 during Spring 2022.

Chris has a particular interest in social history, and is a member of the Medieval Sokemen, a Peterborough-based history group, and a founding member of the history group, The Longthorpe Legion.

She also hosts her own workshops and shares her own medieval recipes on her website Briga and Friends.
