Rutland Local History and Record Society release Rutland Record's 40th issue

This month, the Rutland Local History and Record Society released the 40th issue of the annual journal.

The journal was first produced in 1980, under the editorship of the late Bryan Waites.

The latest edition featuresan index volume of the last 10 issues and articles by Professor Alan Rogers on a survey of the manor of Preston with Uppingham; Sheila Sleath, who sets out to trace the history of an Oakham watch and clockmaker Thomas Cooke; and Dr Vivian Anthony, who gives an account of the life in Uppingham of chancellor William Wales, previously vicar of All Saints’, Northampton, who became rector of Uppingham and lord of the rectory manor in 1859.
