HMP Stocken is recruiting for prison officers, offering a secure job with great training, excellent benefits and the chance to change lives for the better.

Prison officers provide an incredibly important public service, as essential as the police, the military or the fire service. They help rehabilitate offenders to lead crime-free lives upon release - meaning fewer victims and safer streets.

Working in a prison is no ordinary job, day to day, as an officer you’d help to create a safe, secure prison environment where rehabilitation is supported and encouraged. In return you receive a satisfying career where you can progress.

Prison officers, for example, can develop their careers and go on to train and work in one of the healthcare units or with vulnerable prisoners, become a physical education instructor, dog handler, or maybe even become a trainer.

All new prison officers gain a Level 3 diploma after completing 10-weeks of training. The role comes with a range of benefits, Civil Service pension, 25 days holiday, retail discounts and childcare vouchers.

More than 1,200 people from all over the UK have joined the service since last September – there’s no such thing as a typical prison officer, officers come from all walks of life and we’re looking for people who are capable, confident, good communicators and want to be at their best.
