Plans to build 40 homes on former allotment land in Brooke Road, Oakham, have been approved despite opposition from the Oakham South and West Action Group

Campaigners have lost their fight to protect one of Oakham’s green spaces.

Planning permission for 40 new homes at the former allotment site in Brooke Road has been approved despite strong opposition from the community.

The original plans were rejected two years ago and the applicant lost a subsequent appeal, but a revised scheme was backed by Rutland County Council’s planning committee on Tuesday.
