The Rutland Horticultural Society's annual show at Oakham CE Primary School is a blooming success

The Rutland Horticultural Society annual show was declared a massive success after receiving the most entries for a number of years.

Oakham CE Primary School was full of people on Saturday (July 20) inspecting the beautiful entries.

Liz Needham, exhibition secretary, said: “We had a really good turnout and we had more entries this year than the previous three years so that was really good.

“We had about 35 entries in the main show and over 370 right across the whole show.

“The weather was nice, we had a lot of people come and there were also refreshments and a raffle.”

The Kimball Cup for most points was won by Dave Stewardson, Pauline Dawson won the the Royal Horticultural Society show committee prize for her Geraniums with Emma Dale's 'exceptional' jar of lemon curd taking the main prize.
