McDonald's closure prompts huge queues at Stamford branch as people seek last Big Mac

This was the queue for the McDonald's in Stamford tonight (Monday, March 23) after the chain announced it would be closing its UK restaurants in an effort to encourage social distancing.

Traffic stretched around the Drive-Thru and the car park at the Ryhall Road Retail Park and out onto the road, as our pictures show.

McDonald's across the UK will close by 7pm tonight.

Among the branches affected by the move are South Road, Bourne; Glinton and Helpston.
