More than 200 people attended a picnic in Stamford to encourage unity in the wake of the EU referendum vote.

The event, organised by Amelia Billington, was held on Stamford Meadows on Saturday afternoon. Amelia, a lawyer, said: “We had people from many different backgrounds in attendance. The consensus was that Stamford is a lovely, safe place in which to live, but not very well integrated. I hope to organise similar events in the future, and to possibly set up a community group, with representatives from different communities, to have a think about how we carry on this work. I funded the picnic myself, but am interested in getting sponsorship going forward.” Email amelia.billington@gmail.com
