HUNDREDS of people remembered a Red Arrows pilot who died in a crash in a memorial service yesterday at Lincoln Cathedral.

Flt Lt Jon Egging, 33, died when the Hawk T1 Red 4 he was flying crashed shortly after a display at Bournemouth Air Festival in August.

About 1,000 military service men and women, as well as family and friends including his widow Dr Emma Egging remembered the pilot.

Television presenter Carol Vorderman and Queen star Brian May also attended and Flt Lt Egging’s Red Arrows team mates performed a flypast over the cathedral in the missing man formation.

Dr Egging, who has set up a trust in her husband’s name, paid tribute to him during the service.
