The Stretton Village Fete went off “amazingly well” said Greg Harker, chairman of the organising committee.

An estimated 400 to 500 people turned up on Sunday to attend the event, which raised more than £5,000 for charity.

Greg said the money would be distributed between the local church, air ambulance and charity Prostate Cancer UK.

“The memorial flight was brilliant and everyone’s heads turned up to watch as the Spitfire and Hurricane flew over,” he said.

“We had a great line up of musicians who put on a fantastic show.”

Greg said this was the first village fete held in four years.

“The event had a village feel to it and was a great success.”
