EQUESTRIAN year book L’Année Hippique has named the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials as the riders’ choice of International Best Event of The Year for the sixth time.
Burghley won the inaugural award in 1987 and again in 1992, 1998, 2002 and 2008.
“Winning this award is the icing on the cake of our anniversary year and recognises the attention to detail and hard work undertaken by my administration team and indeed our many volunteers,” said Elizabeth Inman, event director.
British rider William Fox-Pitt, who had a sixth win at Burghley this year, said: “The course and going are always fantastic and the improvement in the facilities for riders, grooms and owners over the years has been second to none. Winning again this year, especially as it was the 50th anniversary, is well deserved.”
