Incredible icicle formation created on hedge off A47 in Uppingham

This week’s cold snap brought with it this incredible icicle formation.

John Hillier took the photo on Wednesday of a hedgerow near the A47 in Uppingham, showing hundreds of icicles. He said there was a lot of standing water on the road and thought that as the water splashed upwards it froze to create the spectacle.

Leicestershire-based amateur meterologist Phil Morrish had a different theory, believing that snow on the hedge had started to melt when temperatures suddenly dropped again. Either way, the affect is truly incredible!

And right, Jason Richardson, of Bourne, discovered this giant icicle as he toured the town taking photos.
