ART, drama, dance and music will come together in an arts extravaganza which takes place in The Deepings next weekend.

Organisers from Deepings Arts are putting the finishing touches to the two-day programme for the 2012 Deepings Festival of Performing and Visual Arts.

Dozens of local performers will take to the stage during the event to showcase their talents in a programme which ranges from music and dance to tai chi and synchronised swimming displays.

Deepings Arts chairman, Martin Adkins, hopes the festival will include something for everyone.

He said: “We try to improve the festival year on year and this year we’ve got a really good line up.

“The local schools always do an excellent job, the variety show will appeal to everyone and to have someone of Geoff Kersey’s stature running an art workshop is great for Deeping.”

The arts festival will take place in the main hall at The Deepings School on Saturday next week from 10am until 3pm. Admission is 50p for adults and free for children.

Performances include Deeping St James Primary School choir at 10am, Market Deeping Primary School choir at 10.30am, The Deepings Academy Choir at 11am, a performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by The Deepings Academy at 11.30am, a synchronised swimming display at 12.30pm, a Deepings School of Tai Chi demonstration at 1pm, a Deepings School of Dancing demonstration at 1.30pm, Martin Gadd’s School of Karate at 2pm, Northborough Primary School choir at 2.30pm and a zumba demonstration at 3pm.

The evening entertainment will be a variety showcase.

The performance will start at 7pm and include pieces by A Handful of Harmonies, Encore Dance Academy, Deepings Academy Dancers, Priory PYPs and individual performers. Tickets cost £6 (£4 concessions) from 01778 342811 or on the door.
