Opera-lele Christmas Show takes place at Cottesmore Village Hall

An enthusiastic audience enjoyed the Opera-lele Christmas Show at Cottesmore Village Hall.

Opera-lele is an innovative and award winning crossover act featuring music from opera and musical theatre along with festive favourites.

George and Mandi, who formed Opera-lele in 2015, both have an operatic training background and accompany their singing with the distinctive sound of the ukulele.

The event was organised by Henry Lynch of the Oakham Ukulele Club and in the audience were many ukulele players from clubs all across the region who brought their instruments with them.

The show concluded with Christmas carol favourites with all the ‘ukers’ strumming along happily and ‘non-ukers’ singing lustily.

Funds raised by the WaterAid Rutland Group go to projects in Mali in West Africa.

WaterAid’s mission is that everyone, everywhere has access to clean water, safe toilets and hygiene education by 2030 as a vital first step to help poor and remote communities emerge from poverty.
