She has been helping out staff in the restaurant and engaging with customers for two hours a week to build up life skills, improve her confidence and give her more social opportunities.

Her mum, Laura, said: “It’s fantastic to see a business as large as McDonald’s taking on people who are differently abled.

“Since Izzy started, they’ve been incredibly kind, supporting her and making her feel at ease.

“This opportunity has given her a real desire to work and we’re all really impressed with the strength or work ethic.”

Izzy was offered the experience after being a customer at the fast-food chain and getting know the staff and showing an interest in the business.

Matt Jarrett, the franchisee of the Bourne restaurant, said: “At McDonald’s, we are fortunate to have one of the most diverse workforces in the UK.

“It’s fantastic having Izzy as part of the team.”
