Former Stamford Endowed Schools pupil launched a podcast

A former Stamford Endowed Schools pupil has launched a YouTube channel to encourage people to discover more about history and politics.

Jackson van Uden set up History with Jackson on January 1 this year as a new year’s resolution and has since watched both his confidence and the project grow.

The 22-year-old said: “I had a conversation with my parents at Christmas and said I wanted to stay involved in academia and research to establish myself as a historian.

“I started a YouTube channel with videos applying history and politics, teaching people about it.”

Through the podcast Jackson also speaks to history and politics experts to further the knowledge of the listeners and himself.

A recent guest on the podcast was Dave Tuck, head of politics at Stamford Endowed Schools, who co-wrote the new Pearson Edexcel A-Level US Government and Politics textbook.

Jackson said: “I have no experience writing textbooks so Dave can enlighten people on them.”

Jackson, who specialises in totalitarianism and British monarchy, has always had a passion for history but re-discovered his love for it while completing A-Levels before going on to study it at the University of Chichester.

Since setting up the podcast he has connected with history enthusiasts across the world.

“It’s not about making money,” said Jackson.

“It’s about establishing myself as a historian and someone people want to listen to, and learn and broaden my knowledge.

“You can’t know everything there is to know about history and politics but I’m trying.”
